My Younger Brother Journey 2022 to 2024

After completing my Master's degree in Social Work at the Central University of South Bihar in Gaya, I embarked on a journey of social service and community engagement. During my studies, I organized a "Cloth Donation Camp-2022" with the guidance of teachers and alongside my fellow youth classmates. Our team collected clothes through collective efforts and distributed them among economically disadvantaged individuals in the neighboring village of Dariyapur. This initiative, although not financially supported by the university, was fueled by the dedication of my peers and some teachers who contributed from their own resources.

Upon my first field visit to Dariyapur, I endeavored to understand the sanitation situation in the village by engaging with locals. I discovered a lack of proper infrastructure for clean drinking water, community toilets, health centers, and childcare facilities. The condition of open drains was deplorable, posing risks of waterlogging and diseases like malaria and dengue.

Furthermore, during visits to the villages of Nepa and Tepa in the district, I interacted with students and teachers at the Government Middle School in Fatehpur-Nepa and Tepa. I found that the school lacked adequate cleanliness, sanitation facilities, and waste management systems. There was also a shortage of teachers and sanitation workers, highlighting systemic challenges in rural education.

Moving forward, I visited industrial areas such as Manpur and Patwatoli, and the Sudha dairy in Gaya, accompanied by my team and the Head of the Department, Dr. Anil Kumar Singh Jha. During discussions with the dairy production manager, I learned about the employment opportunities provided to hundreds of workers and the emphasis on their health and nutrition. Most of the issues raised by the manager were corroborated by the workers, affirming the positive impact of the organization.

During my tenure as a Gandhi Fellow with the Piramal Foundation in Rajgarh District, Madhya Pradesh, I contributed to strengthening the education system and capacity-building of teachers. I facilitated the NIPUN Bharat mission under the foundational literacy and numeracy campaign, training over 500 teachers in effective teaching methodologies. Additionally, I worked on a sponsored project called Read Along by Google, aiming to enhance reading comprehension among students, where we successfully installed over 5000 applications on Android phones.

Furthermore, I collaborated with the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) to enhance school readiness and qualitative informal education among children aged 3-6 by conducting capacity-building workshops for 1800 Anganwadi Workers. I also worked closely with local government officials, presented growth reports, and initiated various community-based initiatives such as establishing libraries and creative assemblies in schools.

Overall, my journey has been marked by a relentless commitment to social welfare and community development, driven by a passion for positive change and a desire to empower marginalized communities.
